I could share a ton of information about hypnosis. Here are the basics that you probably want to know.
HYPNOSIS IS A NATURAL STATE OF RELAXED FOCUS THAT WE GO INTO AND OUT OF EVERY DAY.
For example, when you are engrossed in a movie, reading, or a project and you lose track of time; or realize that you weren’t paying attention to what someone was saying to you. Another example is that of highway hypnosis - when you drive from one point to another and suddenly realize you were not (consciously) paying attention.
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS AND WHY DOES IT WORK?
Hypnosis is a process that allows your brain waves to shift into such a way that the subconscious mind can accept the desired suggestions without resistance and thereby make the changes you seek easily. When a person is in the state of hypnosis, the body and conscious mind are relaxed while your subconscious mind is focused and aware. You can think of hypnosis as being something like a guided meditation, visualization, or even daydreaming. In all of those situations, you are relaxed but focusing your thoughts.
Being able to relax the conscious mind so we can communicate directly with the subconscious mind is the key because all beliefs, habits and thoughts originate in the subconscious. If you try to use the conscious mind to make a change at the conscious level, you are using will power. And as we all know, will power diminishes over time because so much effort is involved. You are essentially attempting to force yourself to do something you don’t want to do…or not to do something you do want to do. And it is hard. It is like you have two different parts of you and they are working against each other. You may even find yourself saying, “part of me wants X, but part of me wants Y”. For example:
“Part of me wants to stop smoking, but a part of me enjoys it.”
“I tell myself I am going to wake up early and go to the gym, but morning comes and I just want to stay in bed.”
“I want to be in a relationship, but I’m afraid of being hurt.”
“I want to make six-figures, but I can’t seem to get motivated to do the work.”
And this is the problem because this IS exactly what is going on. Your conscious mind wants one thing…but the subconscious mind wants something else.
Now, here is the other thing you need to know. Your conscious mind is only in charge of 10% of you. Your subconscious mind is in charge of (controls) 90% of you. Many scientists report a 5% conscious, 95% subconscious ratio. It is easy to see how if the conscious and subconscious are in conflict, the subconscious mind will always win because it is so much more powerful
WHAT CAN HYPNOSIS BE USED FOR?
Hypnosis and hypnotherapy can be used to help you in so many ways. Personally, I specialize in quit smoking hypnosis, quit vaping hypnosis, weight loss hypnosis, and hypnobirthing and IVF hypnosis. I also specialize in hypnosis for children and hypnosis teenagers, including anxiety hypnosis, confidence and self esteem hypnosis and overcoming shyness hypnosis. I also love teaching people how to use self-hypnosis for pain management and dating/relationship success. Because I prefer to specialize in a few specific areas of hypnosis rather than being a generalist, the results you receive are even better than you imagine.
WHAT DOES HYPNOSIS FEEL LIKE?
It is comparable being “zoned out'“ when you are watching television, reading a book, or engrossed in your favorite hobby. You are relaxed and attention is focused and time has a way of flying by. My clients report that it feels very pleasant and enjoyable. Sometimes you remember 100% of the session. Other times you may remember none of what I said. And still other times you may feel like you drifting in and out of being aware of my voice.
MYTHS AND MISCONCEPTIONS
Hypnosis not sleep. You will probably be awake the entire time. Only people who are tired fall asleep in the session, or those who have the habit of falling asleep watching television or a movie. If you do fall asleep, your subconscious will still hear the suggestions I make.
Hypnosis is not mind control and you will not get stuck in hypnosis. A hypnotist cannot make you do something you don’t want to do. Your subconscious mind will reject it.
Hypnosis is not mystical/magical. Hypnosis is grounded in science and medicine. The American Medical Association declared hypnosis a mode of treatment in 1958.
Hypnosis is not a quick fix, but it is much more time and cost efficient than therapy. Most people require 4 sessions at minimum to completely and permanently resolve their issue. If you book a free consultation, I will give you an idea of how long it might take you to see full resolution to your issue.
